Mooncake is regarded as indispensable delicacy that is traditionally offered between friends and family gatherings to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. Kam Wah Taro Egg Yolk Pies is made similar to mooncake but it's smaller in size. It's made of lotus seed paste, Taro, wheat flour, mung bean and other fine ingredients with salted egg yolk in the middle with flaky pastry on the outside.
